Teksten over nieuwe maan
De Hebreeuwse Bijbel gebruikt “nieuwe maan” (חֹדֶשׁ chodesh) zowel voor de letterlijke nieuwe maand als voor de feestelijke offers.
Hier zijn de belangrijkste verwijzingen:
- Numbers 10:10 – Trumpets are blown on days of gladness, feasts, and new moons.
- Numbers 28:11–15 – Prescriptions for offerings on the new moon.
- 1 Samuel 20:5, 18, 24 – Saul and David observe a new moon feast.
- 2 Kings 4:23 – The Shunammite woman’s husband asks why she is going to Elisha: “It is neither new moon nor Sabbath.”
- 1 Chronicles 23:31 – Sacrifices on Sabbaths, new moons, and appointed feasts.
- 2 Chronicles 2:4; 8:13; 31:3 – Offerings on Sabbaths, new moons, and festivals.
- Ezra 3:5 – Burnt offerings of the new moons.
- Nehemiah 10:33 – Obligations for new moon offerings.
- Psalm 81:3 – “Blow the trumpet at the new moon, at the full moon, on our feast day.”
- Isaiah 1:13–14 – God rejects empty rituals of new moon feasts.
- Isaiah 66:23 – All flesh will worship from one new moon to another.
- Ezekiel 45:17; 46:1, 3, 6 – Sacrifices on Sabbaths and new moons.
- Hosea 2:11 – God will end Israel’s celebrations of Sabbaths and new moons.
- Amos 8:5 – Merchants impatient for the new moon and Sabbath to pass.
- Colossians 2:16 – Paul says not to let anyone judge you regarding Sabbaths, new moons, or feasts.
Teksten over feest van de bazuinen / Yom Teruah
De Thora gebiedt dit feest rechtstreeks, maar het wordt in de Schrift nooit Rosj Hasjana genoemd. In plaats daarvan is het een dag van trompetgeschal (teruah).
- Leviticus 23:23–25 – On the first day of the seventh month, a memorial of blowing trumpets (zikaron teruah), a holy convocation.
- Numbers 29:1–6 – On the first day of the seventh month, a day of trumpet blasts (yom teruah), with specific sacrifices.
Gerelateerde verzen
Hoewel het niet direct “Feest van de Trompetten/ Bazuinenfeest” wordt genoemd, zijn er veel passages over trompetstoten die op een symbolische manier met elkaar verbonden zijn:
- Numbers 10:1–10 – Silver trumpets used to summon, set out, and for feasts/new moons.
- Joshua 6:4–20 – Trumpets blown at Jericho.
- Psalm 47:5 – “God has gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.”
